These two wonderful people,
Michael and Cyndy Eddy of Tucson, AZ have their adorable Magnolia and Sweet Pea home with
them now. They were so kind to send me these photos and several others of those adorable
girls. All look very happy and we are so glad. Here Micheal is getting smooches from the
pooches!! I had a lady interested in our dachshunds and asked if Michael and Cyndy
if they would like to be a reference for us. Michael wrote this adorable letter that I
thought was so cute I wanted to share it and he said it was alright.
Maggie and Sweetpea are my 5th and 6th doxies ( Cyndy's first and second).
There are a few things you must know about Doxies;
1. Doxies were not bred for Badgers. They were bred to sleep in your lap
while watching TV and in your bed (owah bebbies will do that when they get a
little older and don't have accidents). They will take an entire King Size
bed and feel like teenie little Coleman heaters. When you have two (or an
older dog), they have to wear each other out by growling, snarling, and
dragging each other by the lips and ears, usually at your feet. I get on the
floor with them, so I know they don't hurt each other (they think I'm just a
much bigger Doxie, so they do the same to me). It looks terrible, but is
quite painless. When they wear each other out, they roll over on their back
and snore. They are the most adorable thing you ever experienced. It will
literally bring tears to your eyes.
2. Doxies think they are 100 pounds bigger than they really are. They imprint
on their masters and are the most loyal, codependent, and protective little
dogs that I've ever seen. However, they are also gentle, playful, and
comedians (ALL THE TIME!). Never let them see you do anything you don't want
them to do, they figure it out the very first time! like digging in the
garden.
3. Doxies are hounds. As such, they will get in a lot of trouble if they get
bored. With another dog around the house, they will be more "entertained". Be
careful, they may get your Westie in trouble.
4. Our Bebbies have each other, which is good, as they get LOTS of exercise
with each other (They both look like teenie little linebackers). But...they
distract each other when it comes to training (house training, leashes, etc).
5. On the very same day, they can be both the smartest and dumbest animals
you ever saw, depending on what they just finished doing. Having said that,
you can't get mad at them when they look at you with those beautiful, almond
eyes and then kiss you right on you teeth when you pick them up!
We wouldn't take a Squillion dollars for our bebbies. They are like having a
new comedy cable channel around, 24 hours a day. They give you unconditional
love, all the time. They are worth 25 points off your Blood Pressure.
Gloria breeds the sweetest little puppies I've ever seen. She obviously cares
about where they go and that you (we) are proper parents for her dogs. Yes,
we've had pottie accidents (less each week), yes, the girls dig in the yard
and help us prune flowers and bushes (they are hounds, you know). Having said
all that, they are our family and have wormed their little weenie bodies in
to our hearts and into our lives. No one could ever convince us they aren't
worth the considerable time and effort they take.
We plan on retiring in 5 years. When we do, we are getting a farm in Georgia
or South Carolina. On the way there, we'll take the girls to see Gloria and
probably adopt a couple more to go with our "herd" of pets (currently 3 cats
and the two Doxies). We plan on calling our farm "Dawgwood".
